The Library has acquired a very important new reference work
which is now available for consultation.
This is the Olfactory reference guide. Its pages include
scratch-panels enabling the reader to pick up the smell of various food
ingredients by scratching the thumbnail panels on the page.
There are 3 volumes: Volume 1 is for dairy products, Volume
2 is for meats and Volume 3 is for confectionery.
Naturally, the guide has to be used in the library office as
the smells might otherwise disturb other readers.
Those wishing to consult the guide are asked to contact me Richard.barrett@dit.ie as
soon as possible, as each of the scratch-panels wears out after a number of
uses.
