3,000 jobs available at entry level in hospitality sector

The hospitality industry is facing difficulties recruiting qualified and entry level staff according to Michael Vaughan, the outgoing president of the Irish Hotels Federation, who spoke at the Federations annual conference this week.

According to Mr Vaughan, there are up to 3,000 entry level jobs available. He added three out of every four hotels and guesthouses reported difficulties hiring qualified craft and entry level staff.

ENTRY LEVEL JOBS IN THIS COUNTRY FREQUENTLY ARE LESS THAN SOCIAL WELFARE PAYMENTS AND WOULD NOT ALLOW FOR TRANSPORT COSTS HOME WHEN WORKING UNSOCIABLE HOURS OR OTHER WORKING EXPENSES. THE HOTEL INDUSTRY WANTS HIGHLY SKILLED WORKERS BUT WANTS TO PAY THEM A PITTANCE.
